Sony Ericsson Xperia Play

After years and years of speculation about a so called “Playstation phone” and months of gazing at the leaked photos of its actual incarnation, it took until last month for Sony Ericsson, the partnership between the Japanese electronics company – who have been developing the Playstation brand since 1995 when the first console was released – and the Swedish telecommunications firm Ericsson, actually confirmed that they would be releasing an Android phone with the capabilities of playing top hand held games on it.
This phone is called the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and will be released in the coming months to much excitement from both fans of mobile phones and video gaming. Millions of people have wanted this for the last ten years, since Sony Ericsson was founded in 2001, but it is only now as we enter the second year of this decade that the firms feel confident enough in the technology available to launch the phone.
The Playstation’s famous buttons (cross, circle, square and triangle) feature on the phone, which is enough to get excited about straight away, and they are complemented by a D-Pad and two analogue pads to control the action on the large and impressive screen. This gives the phone a huge advantage straight away over its Android rivals when it comes to playing games.
The phone, in other areas, does not differ greatly from other high end Android phones, with a 4″ 854 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz ARM7 CPU and Android 2.3, plus 3.5G support, WiFi and GPS. The phone also has a 5.1 megapixel camera so it seems that Sony Ericsson are set on not diluting the rest of the phone just because it has a large part of it taken up by video gaming. It looks like a very promising prospect in most areas in fact. Check out the latest mobile phone deals at phones4u today, head over to the site to see what they can offer you
