LG Optimus 2X
The Optimus 2X represents a first in the world of smartphones as it is the first phone to come with a dual core processor. Dual core processors are set to play a big part in the world of smartphones and tablets in the coming year and the LG Optimus 2X is the device that will kick this off for mobile phones. Dual core processors effectively provide double the processing power of today’s most high powered smartphones. But the LG Optimus 2X has a lot more on offer than just its phenomenal CPU.
With a 4″ capacitive screen the 2X supports multitouch input and runs on Google Android 2.2 (Froyo). With a future update the 2X will be upgradable to Android Gingerbread (2.3) and it also comes with LG’s Optimus user interface. The interface comes with excellent social networking integration and the 2X has many more messaging features up its sleeve as well.
Threaded SMS is on offer as well as MMS support, email and instant messaging clients such as Google Talk. With high speed 3G and Wi-Fi connections the 2X provides a constant access to the internet and makes it ideal for all sorts of web browsing activity. YouTube and Adobe Flash support combined with the gorgeous 4″ screen make it ideal for watching videos, for example.
The phone’s media player comes with excellent video and music support for when you are offline and with microSD cards you can have up to 40GB to store your personal media. One area that the 2X particularly shines at is with its 8 megapixel camera, which comes with 720p and 1080p video recording.
The Optimus 2X looks set to be a big seller and a perfect way to start 2011. With dual core processors looking set to become the norm for high end smartphones from now on, the Optimus 2X will become a benchmark device for all others to follow. The 2X comes with many superb messaging and entertainment features as well, ensuring that it is not a one trick pony.
